I think every day about the years I watched my bright and beautiful mother slip away. I wonder if and when it will happen to me. A son assures me I'm not starting to "go" because he knows I worry. I took to sneaking out while she was in the bathroom with one of the CNAs. If I told her we were leaving, she'd say, "Wait, let me get my purse"--just like your mom. We would finally tell her we were going to get the car and would come back for her, then we were able to get out. Gradually she got more used to the place. We began staying with her while she ate dinner, then settling her in a comfortable chair with a blanket; then when we said goodbye she'd just smile. I knew she'd fall asleep right away. (There were also times when she thought I was her sister.) Hang in there, Andrea. You've had a longer, tougher time than I did, but you will get through it!ElaineLKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00866201775130742517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6786763185255891553.post-45895869989126197422013-04-04T09:04:09.873-07:002013-04-04T09:04:09.873-07:00My mother and MIL were both crocheting fanatics.
